Trees and a pier beside the sea

another 4 days in copenhagen

Last week I went back to lovely Copenhagen! The last time I was there was a lucky pre-pandemic holiday in February of 2020 and it was very stormy then so I’m really glad I got to go back in sunny May, far more suitable for dawdling about. I was there with my lovely friends, finally reunited for the first time since we went to Italy a couple years back. This was quite a different trip but there’s always good times and many an aperol spritz to be had.

Our first day was us finding our bearings, we started with a hunt for pastry, wandered around a lot and took a wee boat tour on the canal which was lovely. After loads of walking about we checked into our accommodation which was the most epic 11th floor apartment with big windows all the way around so we had a cracking view. We were so in love with it that we decided to spend the evening in, cooking up a nice chicken dinner and just hanging out.

The next day we scooted across the city to Tivoli Gardens theme park where we had a total blast. The sun was shining, we got delicious ice cream and had loads of fun on all the rides or having unhinged conversations while queueing. That evening Jack and I went for a bougie dinner then a wee boogie at Never Mind before scooting home.

The most wholesome morning we had was hanging on the sofa before going for a dip at Badezone Halfdansgade and then getting a coffee and pastry as we dried off in the sun. After getting ready we hopped on a train and headed out to Louisiana which is an art gallery and sculpture park which is totally stunning. When we got back into the city we went to the super popular Fabro to pick up dinner, there was a wee wait while they cooked it up but we bought drinks and sat on the street among the other pasta seekers. We then walked around for a while and found ourselves in the neighbourhood of The Little Mermaid statue so we went to say hi to her. Our walks continued and we were delighted to come across trampolines in the street beside the canal which we of course bounced and giggled on. We spent our evening at the Kayak Bar with a jug of spritz and made friends with three air hosts which was unexpected.

The others were heading home the next day all at different times but Jack and I still had time to go for one more Danish pastry run before getting on the train for my next adventure in Malmö!

A moment for the food highlights; the cardamom croissant from Hart Bakery, the big fat sandwiches at Abrikos, dinner at ‘home’, bougie dinner at Paté Paté, whippy ice cream dipped in chocolate, the pasta and focaccia from Fabro eaten outside in the sun at the end of a brilliant trip ❤️
