Living room refurb

So since I’ve moved back to Edinburgh I’ve embarked on a mission to redecorate basically my whole flat. It’s going to be a long and costly journey so I’ll be taking my time and chipping away at it over the next few years. Up first was the living room because I had some space and time while I waited for my sofa to arrive. So without further ado, I present to you some before and afters!

So yeah, quite a change over the last 5 months including new laminate flooring, lots of polyfilla and new paint (shout out to Valspar Impressionist Blue), learning to use a nail gun for wood panelling, figuring out how to make a spider light and paper lanterns look like a bunch of grapes, two different sofa deliveries, sewing new upholstery, measuring out the perfect gallery wall layout and acquiring lots of gorgeous soft furnishings. Finally, and most importantly was the custom bookshelf and drinks cabinet! Here’s an Instagram reel documenting the journey of putting together my customised IKEA Billy shelves:

The big DIY jobs were necessary and all made such a huge difference but I had the most fun picking out all the fun details which make me smile every time I see them. Here’s some close up shots of some of my favourite bits.

I am so happy with how it all turned out and love having people over to hang a living room that I think is super cool. I especially love how cosy it feels when I have all the lovely wee lamps on. Thanks so much to my dad, pals and B&Q for the role you played in helping me pull this together. Up next is the bathroom, so I’m off to look at tiles…
