A festival garden strewn with lights and a giant upside down cow-shaped tent

Fun times at the Edinburgh festivals 2023

Another year down which has left me equally joyful and exhausted. Over the course of 3 weekends, I managed to catch 24 different shows during the Edinburgh festivals. More important than the shows, however, were the experiences I got to share with some of my favourite people in the world.

It’s been an incredibly fringey fringe with; unexpected nudity, rushing between shows, running because we were actually late for one, random chats with strangers, getting up to rave during a show, watching my pal get called up on stage to perform the Gay Scientist opposite Princess Diana (of course), being picked on by comedians and picking jokes from the notebook of another one, watching a 3-hour show in another language, seeing wonderful pals performing wonderful shows, eating overpriced street food but drinking cheap tins from the shop, being astounded by people sticking foreign bodies in places they shouldn’t, making a drag queen laugh, being inspired by some things you’ve never seen before, being in awe of my friend doing stand up, running to the last train back to Glasgow, sleeping not nearly enough but laughing plenty. It’s been a great time.

But if I had to pick some highlight shows, I’d shout out Diana the Untold and Untrue Story, The Grand Old Opera House Hotel, FOOD, The Kaye Hole, Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder, Drag Queens Vs Vampires and my friend Sabina in any comedy line up ❤
As you can tell it’s been a very serious month and not at all filled with glorious silliness…

Til next year!
