My lovely friend Ethan and I recently went on a wee trip to Seville, staying in his mum’s house in the nearby village of Villamanrique de la Condesa. We were off in search of some sunshine off the back of a cold and dark Scottish winter, but unfortunately were met with thunder and lightning storms, rain, clouds and only short wee bursts of sunshine. While this was a bummer, there’s not much we could do but embrace it, so we had some cosy times inside with the fire burning and quite literally danced in the downpour.
When it was dry, we did a lot of aimless wandering around the city. It was really nice, dawdling along the wee winding streets with no direction in mind. A few times we’d pop ourselves down in a courtyard, grab a drink and I would read while Ethan sketched the streets. We rented bikes to go for a wee spin though that got cut short when we saw flashes of lightning (lol). My favourite tourist spot was the stunning Plaza de España, which is so grand and beautiful. There were buskers everywhere filling the plaza with music, and I made two duck friends. It would be such a cool place to just sit and hang out, however, we were hit with a short monsoon of rain that had everyone taking cover. Serendipitously, we were able to wait out the storm with a flamenco show!

Otherwise, our time in Spain was very chill; eating tapas, doing yoga, watching movies, reading, cooking dinner, playing cards, wee morning runs and trips to the bakery. One of the days we took a trip to Playa de Matalascañas and it was so nice to be on the sand, feeling the long waves and looking for cool shells on the shore.

Seville is very beautiful – full of beautiful tiles, blossoming orange trees and dance. I can just imagine how special it feels when the weather is glorious and everyone’s hanging out outside. Hopefully, I’ll be back!
